5MM infrared (IR) transmitter and Receiver pair consist of a matched 940nm wavelength LED (transmitter) and photodiode/phototransistor (Receiver) used for wireless signaling and object detection.the transparent LED emits IR light,while the dark blue/black LED detects it.Commonly used in DIY electronics,robotics and remote controls,they operate at 5V DC and are excellent for proximity,line following and safety sensors.
